A quick and easy snack recipe for perfectly crispy and tender shrimp cooked straight from frozen in the air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound frozen shrimp, peeled and deveined, tail-on or off based on preference
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin is fine)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional lemon wedges for serving
  • Optional fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C), about 3-5 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the frozen shrimp with olive oil until lightly coated.
  3. Add garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper; toss again to evenly distribute the spices.
  4. Arrange the shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  5. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through at 4-5 minutes for even browning.
  6. Check for doneness; shrimp should be pink, opaque, and crispy on the outside. Add 1-2 more minutes if extra crunch is desired, but avoid drying out.
  7. Remove shrimp and serve immediately with optional lemon juice and chopped parsley.

Notes

Preheat the air fryer for best crispiness. Toss shrimp in oil while still frozen to help seasoning stick. Flip shrimp halfway through cooking for even crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the basket to ensure proper air circulation. For reheating, use air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to maintain crispiness. Optional seasoning variations include swapping smoked paprika for chili powder or Cajun seasoning, and adding a brush of melted garlic butter after cooking.
