A light, airy, and subtly nutty frosting made with just three ingredients: whipped topping, powdered sugar, and almond extract. Perfect for cookies, cupcakes, or fresh fruit, this frosting is quick to make and not heavy like traditional frostings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (227 g) whipped topping (store-bought or homemade whipped cream)
  • 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon pure almond extract

Instructions

  1. Chill your mixing bowl and whipped topping container in the fridge for about 15 minutes to maintain fluffiness.
  2. In the chilled bowl, combine 1 cup sifted powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon almond extract. Stir lightly to mix.
  3. Slowly add 8 oz whipped topping to the bowl. Using a hand mixer on low speed, gently combine ingredients to avoid deflating the topping (about 2 minutes).
  4. Increase mixer speed to medium and whip for 3-4 minutes until smooth, airy, and holding soft peaks.
  5. Taste and adjust flavor by adding more almond extract (¼ teaspoon increments) or a pinch of salt to balance sweetness. Whip briefly after additions.
  6. Use immediately for spreading or piping, or chill covered in the fridge up to 24 hours. Re-whip briefly before serving to refresh texture.

Notes

Keep everything cold to maintain fluffiness. Whip gradually starting on low speed to avoid deflating the whipped topping. Stop whipping when soft peaks form to prevent graininess. Adjust sweetness and almond flavor slowly. Re-whip after chilling to restore texture. For vegan version, use coconut-based whipped topping and vegan powdered sugar.
