Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes, skin-on
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the wings and toss until each piece is lightly coated.
  3. Sprinkle garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning evenly over the wings and toss to combine thoroughly.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
  6. Cook for 10 minutes, then flip each wing using tongs and continue cooking for another 8-10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. While the wings cook, mix the minced fresh garlic with the grated parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes if using.
  8. Once wings are cooked, transfer them to a clean bowl and immediately sprinkle the garlic parmesan mixture over the hot wings. Toss gently but thoroughly to coat.
  9. Taste and adjust salt or pepper if needed. Serve hot.

Notes

Pat wings dry thoroughly to ensure crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to prevent steaming. Use freshly grated parmesan for best texture and flavor. If wings are not crispy enough, cook an additional 2-3 minutes uncovered. Reheat in air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to maintain crispiness.
