These easy air fryer candy corn popcorn balls are a quick, 3-ingredient treat that tastes like fall in every bite. Made in just 5 minutes, they’re perfect for Halloween parties, fall gatherings, or a simple sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup popcorn kernels (yields about 4 cups popped)
  • 1/2 cup candy corn (preferably Brach’s)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn: Pop 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels using an air popper, stovetop method, or microwave. You should have about 4 cups of popped popcorn. Spread it out on a baking sheet to cool slightly.
  2. Melt the butter: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter until liquid and slightly warm. Alternatively, microwave in 15-second intervals.
  3. Prep the candy corn: Measure out 1/2 cup of candy corn. Break apart any clumps so the pieces are individual.
  4. Combine in the air fryer basket: Place the popped popcorn in the air fryer basket. Drizzle the melted butter over the top and toss gently. Sprinkle the candy corn over the popcorn and toss again to distribute evenly.
  5. Air fry the mixture: Set the air fryer to 350°F and cook for 3-4 minutes. At the 2-minute mark, pause and shake or stir the basket. The candy corn should be mostly melted and coating the popcorn.
  6. Cool slightly: Carefully remove the basket and dump the coated popcorn onto a sheet of parchment paper. Let it cool for about 60 seconds.
  7. Shape into balls: When the mixture is cool enough to handle but still warm, grab a handful and press it into a ball shape. Place each ball on the parchment paper to set. If the mixture hardens, pop it back in the air fryer for 30 seconds to soften.
  8. Let them set: Let the popcorn balls cool completely on the parchment paper. They’ll firm up as they cool. For faster setting, refrigerate for 2-3 minutes.

Notes

Use fresh candy corn for best melting. Stale candy corn won’t melt smoothly. Wet your hands slightly before shaping to prevent sticking. Work quickly as the mixture sets fast. For best texture, let the popcorn balls sit for an hour or two before serving. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
