Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 ounces (680g) white chocolate or vanilla candy melts
  • 1 cup (180g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional)
  • 1 ½ cups (about 150g) crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (e.g., Oreos)
  • 1 cup (150g) candy corn
  • ½ cup (80g) mini pretzel twists
  • ½ cup (75g) M&M’s or candy-coated chocolate pieces (Halloween mix preferred)
  • ¼ cup (40g) dried cranberries or raisins
  • ¼ cup (40g) chopped peanuts or almonds (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Halloween sprinkles (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)
  • Drizzled white chocolate (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet (13×18 inches or similar) with parchment paper, leaving overhang on each side. Ensure the paper lies flat.
  2. Place 24 ounces of white chocolate or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring thoroughly between each interval, until smooth and glossy. If using, stir in 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening while warm.
  3. Pour the melted white chocolate onto the center of the prepared baking sheet. Use a rubber spatula to spread it into an even rectangle about ¼-inch thick.
  4. While the white chocolate is still wet, evenly sprinkle the crushed cookies, candy corn, mini pretzels, M&M’s, dried cranberries, and chopped nuts (if using) over the surface. Gently press each piece into the chocolate with your fingertips or the back of a spoon.
  5. In a separate microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Transfer to a small piping bag or a zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Drizzle the dark chocolate in a zigzag pattern over the bark.
  6. While the dark chocolate is still wet, sprinkle Halloween sprinkles and flaky sea salt (if using) over the entire surface.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or until the chocolate is completely firm and set (90 minutes recommended).
  8. Once set, lift the bark out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Break into irregular pieces by hand or cut into squares with a sharp knife. Serve straight from the refrigerator or at cool room temperature.

Notes

White chocolate is delicate; melt at 50% power in short intervals to avoid seizing. Press toppings gently into the chocolate to prevent them from falling off. For best results, let the bark set for 90 minutes in the refrigerator. The bark tastes even better after a day or two in the fridge. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.
