These colorful fruit and cheese kabobs are a quick, no-cook lunchbox solution that kids love. With a rainbow arrangement of fresh fruit and sharp cheddar, they’re fun, healthy, and ready in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • 1 cup orange melon cubes (cantaloupe)
  • 1 cup yellow cheese cubes (sharp cheddar)
  • 1 cup green grapes
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup purple grapes (or blackberries)
  • 1012 wooden skewers (68 inches long)

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit thoroughly and pat dry.
  2. Cut the melon into 1-inch cubes.
  3. Cut the cheese into 1-inch cubes.
  4. Sort fruit by color: red grapes, orange melon, yellow cheese, green grapes, blueberries, purple grapes.
  5. Thread skewers starting with a red grape, then orange melon, yellow cheese, green grape, blueberry, and purple grape. Repeat pattern if skewer is long enough, leaving 1 inch at the bottom.
  6. Repeat for all skewers (makes 10-12).
  7. Arrange in a single layer in a lunchbox container. If stacking, place parchment paper between layers.
  8. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Best served cold.

Notes

Soak wooden skewers in water for 10 minutes to prevent splintering. Use firm, ripe fruit to avoid mushiness. Sharp cheddar is recommended for its bold flavor. These keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days and taste better after a few hours as flavors meld.
