This easy white chocolate Halloween popcorn mix is a quick, 15-minute treat made with popcorn, white chocolate, pretzels, and Halloween candies. It’s the perfect crunchy, sweet, and salty snack for parties, movie nights, or last-minute Halloween gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels or one large bag of plain microwave popcorn)
  • 1 1/2 cups pretzel twists or sticks, broken into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1/2 cup M&M’s (Halloween colors if available)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers (about 2 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional but recommended)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Halloween sprinkles (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as pecans or almonds)
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your popcorn. If using unpopped kernels, pop them using your preferred method (air popper, stovetop, or microwave) to get about 10 cups. Remove any unpopped kernels. Spread the popcorn on a baking sheet to cool completely for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Line your workspace. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Also lay out another piece of parchment or wax paper nearby for the final set.
  3. Melt the white chocolate. Place white chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring thoroughly between each interval, until mostly melted. Stir until completely smooth. If using a double boiler, bring water to a simmer in the bottom pot, place chocolate in the top bowl, and stir until melted. Add vanilla extract and stir to combine.
  4. Check the consistency. The melted white chocolate should be smooth and pourable, like thick cream. If too thick, add another teaspoon of coconut oil and stir. If too thin, let it sit for a minute to cool slightly.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled popcorn, broken pretzel pieces, candy corn, and M&M’s. Toss gently with your hands to distribute evenly. Add optional nuts or extra candies if desired.
  6. Add the white chocolate. Pour the melted white chocolate over the popcorn mixture. Using a rubber spatula, fold gently to coat everything, starting from the bottom and working up. Do not overmix—about 30 seconds of gentle folding.
  7. Spread and set. Immediately transfer the coated mixture to the prepared baking sheet and spread in an even layer. If adding sprinkles or flaky sea salt, sprinkle on now while the chocolate is still wet. Let sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes, or until the white chocolate has hardened completely. For faster setting, refrigerate for 10-15 minutes.
  8. Break into pieces. Once the chocolate is set, break the popcorn mixture into bite-sized clusters. Serve at room temperature.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature popcorn and work quickly once the chocolate is melted. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Do not refrigerate. The mix tastes even better the next day.
