Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces (225g) sliced salami or pepperoni
  • 8 ounces (225g) sliced ham or turkey
  • 4 ounces (115g) cooked cocktail sausages or meatballs (optional)
  • 8 ounces (225g) cheddar cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 46 mozzarella cheese sticks, cut in half or into thirds
  • 4 ounces (115g) spreadable cheese like Boursin or cream cheese (optional)
  • 1 box (about 8 ounces or 225g) crackers (Ritz or Wheat Thins recommended)
  • 1 cup (about 100g) pretzel sticks or mini pretzels
  • 1 cup (about 30g) popcorn or pita chips
  • 1 cup (about 150g) red and green grapes, washed and dried
  • 1 cup (about 120g) baby carrots or carrot sticks
  • 1 cup (about 100g) cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup (about 60g) celery sticks or cucumber rounds (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) ranch dressing or favorite dip
  • 1/4 cup (60g) hummus or guacamole (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (40g) olives, pickles, or pepperoncini (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (about 40g) chocolate chips or M&Ms (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (30g) dried cranberries or raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients (5 minutes): Wash and dry the grapes and cherry tomatoes. Cut the cheddar cheese into 1-inch cubes. Cut the mozzarella sticks in half or into thirds. If using baby carrots, leave them whole; if using full-sized carrots, cut into 3-inch sticks. Slice any other veggies (celery, cucumber). Set everything aside in separate bowls.
  2. Arrange the Dips (2 minutes): Place small bowls or ramekins on the board first. Put ranch dressing in one bowl, hummus in another, and spreadable cheese in a third if using. Space them out evenly across the board.
  3. Add the Cheese (3 minutes): Pile the cheese around the bowls in little clusters. Place cheddar cubes in one area and mozzarella sticks in another. If using cream cheese, place it near the crackers.
  4. Add the Meat (2 minutes): Fold or roll slices of salami and ham and place them in piles around the board. Keep them away from wet dips to prevent sogginess.
  5. Add the Crunchy Items (3 minutes): Fill in the gaps with crackers, pretzels, and popcorn. Spread them out so there are crunchy options near every dip and cheese pile.
  6. Add the Fresh Produce (3 minutes): Tuck the grapes, cherry tomatoes, and carrot sticks into the remaining spaces. Place grapes near the cheese and veggies near the ranch dip.
  7. Add the Sweet Touch (1 minute): If including chocolate chips or M&Ms, sprinkle them in a small, separate area of the board or in a small bowl.
  8. Final Check (1 minute): Step back and look at your board. Fill any empty spots with extra crackers or grapes. Ensure every section has a mix of savory, crunchy, and fresh items.

Notes

Prep ingredients the night before to save time. Keep wet dips away from crunchy crackers to prevent sogginess. Let cheese and meat come to room temperature for 15 minutes before serving for best flavor. Store leftovers separately: cheese in airtight container for up to 5 days, meat for 3-4 days, crackers at room temperature.
