A quick and festive sweet-and-salty popcorn mix featuring red, white, and blue candies with a creamy white chocolate drizzle, perfect for patriotic celebrations and easy snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels (about 100 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter (28 grams), melted
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (180 grams)
  • 1 cup red, white & blue candy mix (red and blue M&Ms, white chocolate-covered pretzels broken into bite-size pieces, patriotic sprinkles)
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional, about 50 grams)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn using 1/2 cup (100 g) popcorn kernels to yield about 12 cups (2880 ml) of popcorn. Air-popping is ideal, but stovetop with a tablespoon of oil works too. Transfer to a large mixing bowl, removing any unpopped kernels.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons (28 g) of salted butter over low heat and drizzle evenly over the popcorn. Toss gently to coat.
  3. Add 1 cup of red, white, and blue candies and the optional 1/2 cup mini marshmallows. Toss gently to distribute evenly without crushing the popcorn.
  4. Melt 1 cup (180 g) white chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring frequently until smooth.
  5. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the popcorn mixture in thin ribbons using a spoon or fork. Spread the mix on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and let the chocolate harden for about 20 minutes at room temperature.
  6. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the set chocolate for a sweet-salty contrast.
  7. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Notes

Melt white chocolate slowly to avoid seizing; add a teaspoon of vegetable or coconut oil if it thickens. Drizzle chocolate in thin ribbons to keep popcorn crunchy. Use a silicone spatula to gently toss popcorn and candies to avoid breaking kernels. Store in airtight container away from humidity for up to 3 days. For dairy-free, use dairy-free white chocolate and coconut oil instead of butter. Optional add-ins include vanilla extract, cinnamon, toasted nuts, or seasonal berries.
