These mummy hot dogs are a quick, fun, and foolproof dinner that kids love. Made with simple ingredients like hot dogs, crescent roll dough, and cheese, they come together in under 20 minutes for a perfect weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (standard size)
  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) crescent roll dough
  • 4 cheese sticks (mozzarella or string cheese), cut in half
  • Mustard (for eyes)
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut cheese sticks in half crosswise to make 8 pieces.
  3. Slice each hot dog lengthwise, not all the way through, to create a pocket.
  4. Stuff each hot dog with a cheese piece.
  5. Open crescent roll dough and separate along perforations. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips.
  6. Wrap each cheese-stuffed hot dog with dough strips diagonally, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Overlap strips slightly.
  7. Place wrapped hot dogs on prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Let cool for 2-3 minutes on baking sheet.
  10. Add mustard eyes using a toothpick to dab two tiny dots on the exposed hot dog area.

Notes

Don’t overstuff cheese to avoid leakage. Cut dough strips evenly for uniform cooking. Leave about an inch of hot dog exposed at the top for the face. Use parchment paper for easy cleanup. Watch the last few minutes of baking to prevent burning. Let kids help with wrapping for fun.
