These spooky white chocolate witch finger pretzel rods are a quick and easy Halloween treat that looks terrifyingly realistic but tastes deliciously sweet and salty. Made with just five simple ingredients, they are perfect for parties and guaranteed to get a double-take.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1215 pretzel rods
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melts or almond bark
  • 3036 sliced almonds
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Red decorating gel
  • Optional: edible glitter or black sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. Lay out pretzel rods, sliced almonds, and red gel icing.
  2. Melt white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth (about 90 seconds total).
  3. Stir in a small amount of green gel food coloring until you achieve a pale, sickly green shade.
  4. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip it into the melted chocolate, leaving about an inch undipped. Let excess drip off.
  5. While chocolate is still wet, press a sliced almond onto the tip with the pointed end facing outward to form a fingernail.
  6. Use a toothpick to draw small horizontal lines about halfway down the pretzel to create knuckle wrinkles (optional).
  7. Place finished witch fingers on the prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes until chocolate is firm.
  8. Once set, use a toothpick to apply a small dab of red decorating gel at the base of each almond nail to create a bloody cuticle. Let gel set for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not skip the refrigeration step before adding red gel. White chocolate burns easily; melt slowly. For best results, use gel food coloring instead of liquid. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Freeze for up to 3 months.
