These sliders feature tender slow-cooked chicken breasts soaked in a sticky, sweet-savory honey garlic sauce, perfect for parties and quick meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/3 cup honey (113g)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (60ml)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (30ml)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste (33g)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 12 slider buns
  • Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickles, sliced jalapeños

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, tomato paste, onion powder, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well blended.
  2. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the chicken, coating each piece well. Do not stir.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until chicken is tender and shreds easily.
  4. Remove chicken and shred using two forks or meat claws. Return shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir into the sauce.
  5. Lightly toast slider buns if desired. Prepare any toppings such as coleslaw or pickles.
  6. Assemble sliders by spooning pulled chicken onto bun bottoms, adding toppings, and topping with bun tops. Serve immediately.

Notes

If sauce is too thin after cooking, remove chicken and reduce sauce on high uncovered for 15–20 minutes before mixing shredded chicken back in. Use fresh garlic for best flavor. Toast buns lightly to prevent sogginess. Can substitute chicken thighs for juicier meat. For gluten-free, use gluten-free buns and tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
